M1907 suspenders were designed to support the weight of a cartridge belt, primarily for mounted troops and soldiers who did not carry the M1910 haversack. These replaced the earlier M1903 suspenders, providing a more effective way to carry ammunition and equipment in conjunction with the haversack.
