This is a genuine Japanese World War II 50mm Mortar, Type 89 grenade, with an original bakelite Top Plug. For safety reasons, the fuze was not installed until the round was ready for use, so a plug was needed to protect the interior. The round features original paint with a yellow band on body and a red band at the top. The Mortar round is inert and can never be used as a weapon or for its original intended purpose,
