Orpiment takes its name from the Latin words aurum and pigmentum which mean gold pigment due to it's deep yellow colour. Orpiment has a very striking appearance, however; it is very toxic and was used by the Roman Empire to poison arrow heads. It has also been discovered in decorations of Tuatankhamun's tomb in Egypt as well as the walls of the Taj
