Epimedium 'Red Queen' is a magnificent Japanese selection of Epimedium grandiflorum that boasts large (6" long x 4" wide) heart-shaped leaves on a tight-clumping epimedium
Canna 'Bengal Tiger' was later taken to Africa by Sydney Percy-Lancaster
The upright vase-shaped form makes an almost perfect 2' wide clump
though should one be passing through the garden they would make use of the flowers when so few other plants are in bloom

The small, pointed, thick blue grey leaves are highlighted by a dramatic creamy center. In midsummer, the 6" tall x 11" wide clumps of Hosta 'Little Treasure' are topped with short 10" spikes of lavender flowers a hummingbird delight.
