Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Grand Duchy. A Military Merit Cross Hold The Wound Badge in Black(Militrverdienstkreuz). A gilded bronze cross patte, the obverse centre presents the initials FF for Friedrich Franz, with the imperial crown on the twelve oclock arm, the date 1914 on the six oclock arm, the reverse presents the inscription FR AUSZEICHNUNG IM KRIEG (FOR AWARD IN THE WAR), measuring 40. 42 mm (w) x 44. 71 mm (h), on loop for suspension from period original non combatant ribbon, and in very fine condition.
