This is a quality Hallmarked Silver mounted Inkwell made from a Horse's Hoof, the mount ZEPHYR of Lieutenant Colonel Sir William HAVELOCK, who lived from 1793 1848. He was leading the 14th Light Dragoons in the Charge at the battle of RAMNAGAR on November 22nd 1848, during the 2nd Anglo Sikh War. Sadly Lt. Colonel Havelock and his horse were killed in this battle. As often happened, a hoof of his mount "ZEPHYR" was
