Original British Third Model Brown Bess Musket Marked Chatham R.N. Spade Grip Assembly This extraordinary musket is fittedOriginal Item: Only One Available. Dating from the late 1790s or early 1800s this is a classic early Third Model Brown Bess Musket having been officially adopted in 1796. The lock bears the Royal Cypher marking with a crown over G. R. and is also marked TOWER across the lock tail. It has simplified all brass furniture including an S pattern side plate, which indicates private purchase. The 39 inch barrel bears British proof marks along with "CHATHAM.
