This is an very nice BATF approved totally inert example of a 1916 dated No. 5 MkI "Mills Bomb" Grenade. This is the first version of the "Mills Bomb" produced, and was one of the standard grenades used by British forces during WWI. It is totally inert, cannot be converted to an explosive devise. It still has the spoon, pin, and parts of the fuze and detonator. It has however suffered quite a bit of oxidation to the
