Merredy, King's Shropshire Light Infantry, who was Killed in Action in France on 9 August 1915. Samuel Richard Merredy was born circa 1888 and resided in Birmingham, where he worked as a dipper. Less than a year before the outbreak of the Great War he was married to Sarah Ann Shaw at the Immanuel Parish Church, and together the couple resided at 66 William Street in Edgbaston.
