An excavated example of the Hotchkiss shell nose without lead band sabot or base cup. Shell measures 5" long. It was recovered in Bedford County, Tennessee near the site of the Battle of Hoover's Gap. The M1841 bronze 6 pounder cannon proved to be an excellent weapon during the MexicanAmerican War.
